How Do I Find the Latest Release Notes for the Fixed Asset Manager?

Chief Mechanic · August 29, 2010 ·

Intuit summarizes the changes to the Fixed Asset Manager (FAM) component for in an HTML file stored on your local computer.  The release notes open the first time you start FAM.  After that, they’re available by selecting Help->Readme… on FAM’s menu (not the menu of QuickBooks itself!).

Depending on the hard drive and folder in which you installed QuickBooks, the release notes for FAM will be in location similar to:

What Does The Error “The Instruction At ‘0X00401753’ Referenced Memory At ‘0X033B2004.’ The Memory Could Not Be ‘Read'” Mean?

Chief Mechanic · August 29, 2010 ·

The error “The instruction at ‘0x00401753’ referenced memory at ‘0x033b2004.’ The memory could not be ‘read'” is caused by one of the following:

  • a damaged company file (.qbw)
  • a conflict between QuickBooks and your anti-virus or anti-spyware software

To determine if a software conflict exists, reboot your computer in safe mode, load QuickBooks and attempt to open the same company file that generated the error.  If the company file opens without producing the error listed above, the most likely cause of the original error was a software conflict between QuickBooks and your anti-virus or anti-spyware software.  Intuit recommends uninstalling these programs to operate QuickBooks normally.

If the file continues to produce the error after starting your computer in safe mode, the most likely cause of the error is a damaged company file.  It’s possible that the Rebuild Data utility (on the File->Utilities->Rebuild Data menu selection) may fix the problem.  If not, contact us to discuss other options to repair or recover your damaged file.

For more information on resolving this error, consult this Intuit knowledge base article.
