According to Intuit, Error Code -6073, -99001 can occur when opening the QuickBooks company file (.qbw) in multi-user configurations. This error code has multiple possible causes:

QuickBooks has opened the file in Single User mode on the computer hosting the company file
the company file (.qbw) is located in a folder with permissions set to read only
on a Linux server, more than one set of login credentials are being used to access the shared
folder

What Does Error Code -6129, -101 Mean?

According to Intuit, Error Code -6129, -101: “An error occurred when QuickBooks tried to access the company file” has multiple possible causes:

all computers in a multi-user user configuration are not running the latest release of QuickBooks
a damaged QuickBooks installation
hosting is enabled on both the server and at least 1 workstation (incorrect) instead of only the server (correct)
hosting isn’t properly configured on the server
the service QBDataServiceUserXX (where XX depends on your QuickBooks version) doesn’t have permission to access the company file

There are a number of troubleshooting steps to resolve this error that are discussed in detail in the Intuit knowledge base article linked below. Before proceeding to those steps, insure that all computers in your QuickBooks installation have been updated to the latest QuickBooks release. To verify the version and release of QuickBooks, press F2 while QuickBooks is running to display the Product Information window. The Product field shows the version and release at the top left of the window. In the example below, Premier Accountant Edition 2009 is the version and R3P is the release. Complete this step on each computer in your multiuser setup.

What Does Error Code 6175 Mean?

According to Intuit, Error Code 6175 is caused because the QuickBooks Database Server Manager couldn’t start or stop. The Database Server Manager is used in multi-user mode to manage .nd files and keep track of the location of the company file (.qbw). Possible causes of this error are:

the server hosting the company file (.qbw) is busy performing other tasks
firewall software is blocking communication between the computer that generated the error and the server where the company file (.qbw) is stored

If the error message is an isolated event, it may mean that the server faced a combination of requests that it couldn’t process in a timely manner. Simply waiting or rebooting the server will typically restore normal operation. If the error appears more frequently and blocked communication as a result of improperly configured firewall software can be ruled out, your server may be having difficulty operating under the loads being placed on it.

What Does Error Code -6147, 0 Mean?

According to Intuit, Error Code -6147, 0 can occur when restoring a company file (.qbw) from a backup file (.qbb) where:

the backup file (.qbb) is damaged
the company file was not updated completely

Intuit offers a troubleshooting guide to address this issue that’s linked below. This guide will discuss attempting to restore the backup file (.qbb) to a new location with hosting mode turned off. You can confirm the Hosting setting by pressing F2 while QuickBooks is running. Doing so will display the Product Information window. The Hosting setting appears in the lower left corner.

If your attempt to restore from the backup file that generated the error is unsuccessful with hosting mode turned off, the next step is to try to restore from another backup file with hosting mode turned off. If this does not resolve the error, contact us to discuss other data recovery solutions.

According to Intuit, Error Code -6108, -105: “The QuickBooks company file cannot be opened. Verify the users have Windows permissions.” is an error that can occur for one of several reasons:

more than 1 computer has hosting turned on (when only 1 computer should)
you’re not running the latest release for your version of QuickBooks
the QuickBooks Database Manager Service was prematurely stopped
in QuickBooks 2006, if the company file (.qbw) was never opened on the server hosting that file

Intuit offers a troubleshooting guide to address this issue that’s linked below. This guide will discuss checking the Hosting setting on the server and each workstation. One cause of this error is that multiple workstations are configured to host the company file (incorrect) instead of all workstations having a Hosting setting of off and a server configured with a Hosting setting of local files only or local and remote files (correct). You can confirm the Hosting setting by pressing F2 while QuickBooks is running. Doing so will display the Product Information window. The Hosting setting appears in the lower left corner.
