What Does Error Code 2753 Mean?

Chief Mechanic · September 5, 2010 ·

Error 2753 is connected to a failure of QBServerUtilityMgr.exe to launch properly.  This is the QuickBooks Database Server Manager.  It’s used in multi-user mode to manage .nd files and keep track of the location of the company file (.qbw).  It’s normally located in:

%Program Files%Common FilesIntuitQuickBooks

QuickBooks Premier 2009 QBServerUtilityMgr.exe Properties

Some users have reported that running the reboot.bat file supplied with QuickBooks solved this error.  This batch file will open a command prompt window and execute a series of calls to the Microsoft Windows program regsvr32.exe.  This Windows command line tool is used to register .dll files in the Windows registry.

It’s possible that an incomplete installation of QuickBooks resulted in missing entries in your Windows registry, and reboot.bat fixes that.  In some instances, reboot.bat can address problems caused by registry cleaners that removed required entries from the Windows registry.

To run reboot.bat, verify that you have administrator permissions and navigate to your QuickBooks installation directory.  By default for QuickBooks 2010, this is:

C:Program FilesIntuitQuickBooks 2010

Locate the file reboot.bat and double click on it to launch it.
