According to Intuit, error code 20888 39915 can occur when attempting to pay employees.

To resolve this error, Intuit recommends these 3 troubleshooting steps:

Update payroll tax tables (Employees->Get Payroll Updates menu selection)
Update QuickBooks to the latest release
Run the Rebuild Data utility

When updating payroll tax tables, be sure that Download entire payroll update is selected in the Get Payroll Updates window, as shown below.

What Does Error Code -6177, 0 Mean?

According to Intuit, Error Code -6177, 0: “QuickBooks is attempting to open this Company file” indicates that QuickBooks couldn’t use the path to the company file. It usually occurs when using QuickBooks in multiuser mode. For QuickBooks 2009, many causes of this error have been resolved in Releases R5 and R6, including attempting to open a company file located in the root drive or certain network locations.

The most common fixes for this error are to:

reboot the server and workstations or
make sure all computers in your QuickBooks installation are running the latest version and release of QuickBooks software
delete the QuickBooks network data file (.nd) and re-configure the server

To verify the version and release of QuickBooks, press F2 while QuickBooks is running to display the Product Information window. The Product field shows the version and release at the top left of the window. In the example below, Premier Accountant Edition 2009 is the version and R3P is the release. To update your release of QuickBooks, click on the Help->Update QuickBooks… menu selection. Complete these step on each computer in your multiuser setup.

According to Intuit, Error Code -6000, -80: “An error occurred when QuickBooks tried to access the company file” has multiple possible causes. Here are screen shots of the actual error:

The possible causes of this error are:

a damaged company (.qbw) file
in a multi-user configuration, multiple computers are configured to host QuickBooks (incorrect) instead of only 1 (correct)
in a multi-user configuration, security software such as a firewall is blocking communication with the QuickBooks server
attempting to convert a file (such as .qbb backup file) to a company file (.qbw) over a network rather than on a local hard disk

There are a number of troubleshooting steps to resolve this error that are discussed in detail in the Intuit knowledge base article linked below. Before proceeding to those steps, insure that all computers in your QuickBooks installation have been updated to the latest QuickBooks release. What Does Error Code 80029C4A Mean?

According to Intuit, error code 80029c4a is accompanied by the error message:

Error Code 80029c4a: Description Error Loading Type Library.dll

It’s caused by a damaged or incorrect version of Microsoft’s typelib.dll, normally found in the following location:

C:WindowsSystem32

To fix this error, update QuickBooks to the latest release. To verify your version and release of QuickBooks, press F2 while QuickBooks is running to display the Product Information window. The Product field shows the version and release at the top left of the window. In the example below, Premier Accountant Edition 2009 is the version and R3P is the release. To update QuickBooks, click the Help->Update QuickBooks… menu selection.

After updating QuickBooks, run reboot.bat. Reboot.bat is a batch file supplied with QuickBooks. For the 2009 version, it is normally found in the following location:

C:Program FilesIntuitQuickBooks 2009

Once reboot.bat has completed, restart your computer and launch QuickBooks. If the error persists, you’ll need to perform a clean install of QuickBooks. Once you perform a clean install of QuickBooks, be sure to update QuickBooks to the latest release.

What Does Error Code 1304 Mean?

According to Intuit, Error 1304 can occur when installing or updating QuickBooks.

It is accompanied by this message:

"Error writing to file [filename]. Verify that you have access to that directory."

It is caused by either:

a damaged CD
a problem with the CD drive itself
a damaged Microsoft .NET component

The troubleshooting steps to resolve this error depend on whether you received the error installing QuickBooks from a CD or from a download.

If you were installing from a CD, first attempt to copy files from the installation CD to your hard disk and proceed to complete the installation. The steps to copy these files are discussed in this Intuit knowledge base article.

If you downloaded QuickBooks and are not installing the program from a CD, a component of the Microsoft .NET framework may be damaged. In this instance, consult this Intuit knowledge base article for information on repairing your .NET framework.
